Galaxy Tab S3 specs revealed, unveil coming next month

Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch the Galaxy Tab S3, its latest Android tablet, during Mobile World Congress 2017 late next month. It will succeed the Galaxy Tab S2, pictured below.

Naver News said as much on Tuesday, though it doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Recent benchmarks have pointed to the tablet, and Samsung hasn’t released a new slate in a long time. In fact, it’s been so long since I’ve seen a noteworthy new Android tablet that I’ve started to wonder if the category is dead. Remember when manufacturers seemed to launch new Android tablets every month? Now we barely see a fresh entrant.

According to Naver News, the Galaxy Tab S3 will pack a Snapdragon 820 processor instead of the new Snapdragon 835 chip destined for Samsung’s new Galaxy S8. It’ll also reportedly offer LTE and Wi-Fi options, a 9.6-inch 2048 x 1536-pixel display, a 12MP camera, 4GB of RAM and Android 7.0 Nougat.

Tab S3 but no S8 at MWC

While the Galaxy Tab S3 may make its debut during Mobile World Congress next month, Samsung has already confirmed it won’t use the show to unveil its new Galaxy S8 smartphone. That’s a change from the past, as it usually unveils its new flagship Android device during the show. At least Samsung won’t be there empty-handed.
